From the Gulf LBC Board of Directors
With tremendous sadness, we must report another tragic loss of life for the Gulf Amateur Boxing Association. In the early morning of July 27th, 2013, Jaimall Pickett succumbed after a short battle versus cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He was just 31 years old and his advanced stage had only been discovered a few weeks prior. Jaimall was an energetic lively young man who always had a bright smile on his face. He competed in multiple Houston Golden Gloves tournaments training at and representing Savannah’s Boxing Club.
Let our thoughts and prayers be with the Pickett family and Jaimall’s friends as they remember his life and grieve through this transition. As well our hearts go out to the members of Willie and Clara Savannah’s boxing family who’ve inexplicably lost a 2nd young boxer in as many weeks.
If you would like to make a donation to the family to assist with their medical and funeral expenses, you can call 832-403-0456 or donate via PayPal to dable@firstam.com
