Junior Olympics Tournaments
The Gulf LBC J/O Tournament will be held April 8-9. Clubs or Organizations that would like to host this event should contact the J/O Chair Clara Savannah at wsavannah@comcast.net. Winners of this event in the Bantam, Intermediate & Junior divisions will compete in the Regional JO Tournament in Ft. Worth scheduled for May 18-21.
USA Boxing Western Qualifier for Elite Athletes
Gulf Elite Athletes who compete in the USA Boxing Western Qualifier in Albuquerque will be supported with stipends. This tournament is VERY IMPORTANT for Gulf Elite athletes to compete in order to secure spots in the December USA Boxing National Championships. Read important info about the event here & here.
Texas Women’s Championships
The Gulf LBC Womens Committee, Gulf Women of Strength, will organize and host the 2017 Texas Women’s Championships over Memorial Day weekend. The GWS committee will meet Feb. 26th to discuss plans. Any volunteers for this committee should contact Bambi Manzo at BambiBoxer4084@gmail.com.
Club Rebates
The Gulf Club Early Registration Rebate program was a great success with 63 clubs already registered! USA Boxing charges clubs $175 for yearly registration dues and Gulf LBC receives $25. This program returns the $25 to the clubs! Here is the Listing of the current 2017 registered Gulf Boxing Clubs that will receive rebates.
Rebate checks will be issued by Gulf LBC Treasurer Diana Cromeans to the Club Contact Person or Club Representative. Please find her during the Houston Golden Gloves or contact her at abccromeans@yahoo.com. Note that clubs not registered/renewed for 2017 must have their athletes compete as “unattached”.

Please review this listing of Gulf Boxing Clubs and notify ASAP of any discrepancies or changes required to bluedanes@sbcglobal.net This info will be used to publish a Google Map and Directory of Gulf Clubs. We also plan to create a VCF file of Gulf Clubs and Coaches contact info that members can import directly into their phone’s contact list.
Officials Stipends
The LBC operates and functions because of the volunteer efforts of the members. The BOD has decided to reward those who sacrifice their time and energy to help at events as Officials and also those who serve on the Board of Directors and as Committee Chairs by reimbursing their yearly Membership Dues in the form of a $100 stipend. Thank you for those who serve the LBC! Members receiving Membership stipends.
Athletes Lunch
The BOD wants to hear from Gulf Athletes! We have two Athletes Representatives on the BOD, Jemiah Richards & Carmen Vargas. They are the voice of the Athletes. To help Athletes have an avenue to the BOD to have their concerns heard and ideas brought forwards, we want to host a lunch meeting with the Athletes, especially senior boxers, the Athletes Reps and the Gulf BOD. Competition & Rankings Committee
We are forming a committee that will ultimately be responsible for a Gulf Boxer Rankings! This group will also handle compiling show results and uploading to the Match Tracker. A coaches meeting will be held to discuss rankings criteria. The Rankings committee will consist of officials who do administration at local events but anyone interested is welcome. Awards Recognition Banquet & Alumni Reunion
A gathering is being planned to recognize the accomplishments of Gulf members during the past year. This event will be in April and we want to have every current boxing club there as well as invite all Gulf boxing alumni to come so the event also can be a reunion. Planning for this event will require volunteers and sponsors. We also will need our members to submit names of those to be recognized and to also recommend who should be invited to the event.
